I ordered this book and shared it with several of my students and teachers. I think I may order one for each of the rising 8th graders as a graduation gift. I am also going to share this with the students on the National Junior Honor Society. Such a positive inspiritng way to teach children abou loving themselves.
The first thing that caught my eye about Best Self Journal was the image on the cover, the colors (orange & yellow) & design are very attractive reminds me of the MLK speech “I have been to the mountain top & I have seen the promised land” There is nothing I can compare this journal to except to say its interactive & there-in lies its strength – The inner front & back covers in blue depicting the sky with yellow stars & famous names predicts the narrative of ancestors who during their lifetime had or continue to contribute their best to society. Throughout the pages it engages the reader to get involved to start by drawing a picture of themselves in a similar framed area as the featured ancestors – it pulls the reader in to see themselves as one of the historical figures mentioned throughout – It plants the seeds of leadership. The reader is encouraged to express themselves by writing in the book & following the simple exercises & steps necessary to be a leader. My favorite part is the Daily Mantra, where it begins “I love myself”. This journal is a must for all youngsters, it’s a great self-esteem & creativity builder!!! It inspires the reader to contemplate the possibilities of their life without restrictions. True to its title, this journal truly inspires you to be your Best Self!!!
This is such an awesome guided journal. It’s so much more than endless blank pages. It is filled with inspiring quotes and fun activities, all to get you thinking about how to appreciate yourself. This journal encourages you to think about your present, your legacy and how to leave your positive impact on the world.
I was so excited to receive my books in the mail for my 2 grandsons, Sebastian and Maverick, my neighbor's daughter, Taylor, my Godson, Jacob, and of course for me, a 61 years old grandmom, aka Gaga, who is still open to learning about our ancestors and myself! Thank you so much Tiffney Laing,!
