A Message to Aspiring Leaders

With just two weeks left of "Founders Month," I would like to share a message with you.Dear Aspiring Leader,Please know that leadership already lives in you. Connect with who you are, connect with history and the lessons of your ancestors; you will see what it means to lead, achieve and be all that you hope to be. “What” I created after reflecting on the problem and my "why."

In this edition of Founders month, I will share “what” I created after reflecting on the problem and my "why." I saw the need for diversity in my neighborhood toy stores and a need for learning tools for children, parents and teachers alike to use to learn and share history and leadership concepts. My observation led me a journey to create the “History Makers Puzzle Block Set”, a fun and creative learning tool that connects children to history and their self-leadership abilities. Let’s work together to build leaders around the world with this one-of-a-kind learning tool. There is so...

"How" Part II. My First Toy

How Part II. In this edition of Founders month, I will share how I created my first toy. This is my original design. Wow. I literally spent weeks trying to figure out what each letter would represent. Half of the block set includes self-leadership strategies and the other half represents a historical figure or event. I thought carefully about who and what to share on the “History Makers Puzzle Block Set.” Once I completed my design, I hired a few designers to bring my creation to life. That process took a while because the colors and other details had to...

"How" Part I. My First Toy

“How” Part I. In this edition of founder’s month, I will share “how” I began the creative process. Before I knew what the first product would be, I decided that I wanted fun characters that children could relate to, learn from and be encouraged by. Thus, the Bevy & Dave characters were created first, even before I determined what the name of the company would be. Their clothes were chosen carefully and are a reflection of my personal style. Bevy is my daughter Beverly and Dave is my brother David, both in cartoon form. Together, they are the self-leadership Gurus...

"Where" I Began Research to Create my First Toy

In this edition of Founders Month, I will discuss where I began my research to begin the journey of creating my first toy. First, I surveyed parents to learn how they share history with their children. I then provided optional ways to explore history and asked them to select and rank their choices. Their responses helped me to decide what to do. The outcome showed books as the first choice and toys were second. Hence, this is why my first product includes not just an educational toy but a mini booklet as well. As a history enthusiast, I love being...
